Edinburgh
A returning private school in Edinburgh asked Mac Recycle to help clear a large batch of redundant IT equipment as part of its three-year device refresh cycle.
The collection included Macs, Windows laptops, iPads, projectors, label printers and other mixed IT equipment from several departments. To make the process easier, we arranged collection during half-term, while the school was closed to students.
Our team collected the equipment from the school premises, checked it against a collection sheet with a member of staff and included several additional items on the day. After inspection, the school received a detailed valuation breakdown, asset summary report, data erasure certificates (where required) and finally, payment confirmation.

We are especially well suited to bulk trade-ins where a school, academy or trust has a whole fleet, ICT suite or year group of devices to refresh. If you are not sure whether something has value, send us a list or a few photos and we can advise.
For larger fleet clearances, we can work around the school calendar and collect at quieter times such as term breaks, INSET days, half term or a planned device refresh, so lessons and staff are not disrupted.
If your IT lead or business manager only knows approximate quantities or general device types, that is fine. We can help you work through the details and advise what is worth trading in or recycling.
The final valuation is confirmed after inspection. You will receive a clear breakdown suitable for your finance office, and payment is made once the final valuation has been accepted.
Some devices may be locked, MDM enrolled, damaged, missing storage or otherwise unsuitable for standard wiping. In those cases, we will advise on the most appropriate next step.
Certificates are most commonly provided for data-bearing devices such as MacBooks, iMacs, Windows laptops, student iPads and other suitable equipment. If certificates are required for your records, please let us know at the start of the process.
Where equipment cannot be reused, we can arrange responsible recycling and provide appropriate recycling or WEEE documentation where applicable. We also plant a tree for every trade-in, which can support your school's sustainability goals.
The timescale can depend on the size and complexity of the collection, but we will keep you updated throughout the process. For larger mixed fleets, we provide a clear valuation breakdown so your finance team can review it before accepting.
