Terms and Conditions
Mac Recycle is a trading name of HCO Group Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 07904088. Our registered office is Lime House, 2 Road Two, Winsford, Cheshire, CW7 3QZ. In these Terms, “Mac Recycle”, “we”, “us” and “our” means HCO Group Ltd trading as Mac Recycle. You can contact us by email at support@mac-recycle.com or by telephone on 01423 613383.
These Terms apply when you use our website, request a quote, send a device to us, sell a device to us, or otherwise use the Mac Recycle trade-in service. These Terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Returns information, Payments information and any quote or written agreement we provide to you. If there is any conflict between these Terms and a specific written agreement signed or confirmed by us, the specific written agreement will take priority.
Quotes are based on the information you provide to us, including the device model, year, specification, condition, functionality, accessories and any faults. You are responsible for making sure the information you provide is accurate and complete. A quote given through our website, by email, by telephone or in writing is not a binding offer to buy until we have received, inspected and accepted the device.
Unless we state otherwise, quotes are valid for 14 days from the date they are issued. If your device is received after the quote validity period, we may update, reduce or withdraw the quote. We may also revise or withdraw a quote where the device received does not match the information provided, where market prices have materially changed, where the device cannot be tested properly, or where there is a legal, ownership, finance, security or activation issue.
You must follow the instructions we provide for sending your device to us. This may include using a prepaid shipping label, courier service, collection service or other delivery method agreed by us. You should include only the device and accessories that are part of the quote unless we ask you to include anything else. Once your device arrives, we will process it in line with our inspection and testing procedure.
You are responsible for packaging your device securely and appropriately before sending it to us. Devices should be packed to protect them from movement, impact, bending, crushing, moisture and other transit risks. If a device is damaged in transit because it was not packaged properly, we may revise the offer, reject the device or return it. Where we provide an insured shipping or courier service, any claim may depend on the device being packaged correctly and on the courier’s own terms and evidence requirements.
All devices are inspected and tested after arrival. We may check the model, serial number, specification, storage, memory, display, battery, keyboard, trackpad, ports, speakers, microphone, camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, casing condition, liquid damage indicators, activation status and any other relevant hardware or software features. We may also check whether the device is subject to iCloud, Find My, Activation Lock, MDM, firmware password, remote management, finance, insurance claim, theft report or other third-party restriction.
If, after inspection, the device does not match the original description, has faults, is missing accessories, is damaged, is locked, is subject to restrictions, has a different specification, or cannot be tested properly, we may issue a revised offer. We will tell you the revised offer and the reason for the change. A revised offer replaces the original quote. No payment will be made until you accept the final offer.
If we issue a revised offer, you may accept the revised offer or ask us to return the device. If you accept the revised offer, we will process payment in line with our payment terms. If you reject the revised offer, we will return the device to you using the return method we consider appropriate. We may require you to confirm your return address before returning the device. If you do not respond to a revised offer within 14 days, we may contact you again, return the device, or continue to hold the device while awaiting your response.
Payment is made only after the device has been received, inspected and the final offer has been accepted. Payments are made by bank transfer to the bank account details you provide. We do not pay by cash, cheque or PayPal unless agreed by us in writing. Most payments are made using Faster Payments, but bank processing times are outside our control. You are responsible for ensuring that the bank details you provide are accurate. We are not responsible for payment delays or losses caused by incorrect bank details provided by you.
Where, following inspection, we agree to pay the quoted price for the device(s), the sale will be treated as final. Payment will be issued automatically using the customer’s selected payment method, and the customer will no longer be entitled to cancel the sale or request the return of the device(s).
You are responsible for backing up and removing any data, files, photos, software, accounts and passwords you wish to keep before sending your device to us. We securely erase devices as part of our processing, but we cannot guarantee that data will be recoverable once a device has been received or processed. You must not send us a device containing illegal content or content that infringes the rights of any third party. By sending a device to us, you authorise us to erase, reset, restore, reinstall, test and process the device as required for inspection, refurbishment, resale, recycling or return.
Devices must not be locked to an Apple ID, Find My, Activation Lock, MDM, remote management profile, firmware password, BIOS password, user account password or other security restriction unless we have agreed this in advance. You must remove all accounts, passwords and restrictions before sending the device. By selling a device to us, you confirm that you are the legal owner of the device, have full authority to sell it, and that the device is not stolen, lost, subject to finance, leased, subject to an insurance claim, owned by an employer, school or other third party, or otherwise restricted from sale. If we reasonably believe there is an ownership, security or legal issue, we may withhold payment, reject the device, return the device, request evidence of ownership, or report the matter to the relevant authority.
If we reject a device, you reject a revised offer, or we are unable to proceed with the purchase, we may return the device to you. We will normally return the device to the address you provide or confirm. Devices are returned in the condition they are in following our inspection and testing process, which may include erasure, reset, disassembly for inspection, or software reinstallation where required. We are not responsible for restoring data, software, accounts or settings before return. If a device is unsafe, illegal to possess, suspected stolen, counterfeit, subject to a third-party claim, or otherwise unsuitable for return, we may refuse to return it and may take further action where appropriate.
For business, school, charity, public sector and bulk trade-ins, collection, packaging, pricing, testing timescales, payment terms and reporting may be agreed separately in writing. Any bulk quote may depend on the final inspected specification, condition, quantity, completeness and functionality of the equipment received. Organisations must ensure they have authority to dispose of the equipment and that any internal approval, asset disposal, finance, lease, audit, data protection or safeguarding requirements have been met before sending or releasing equipment to us. We may request asset lists, serial numbers, purchase evidence, authority letters or other information before completing a bulk purchase.
If your quote includes accessories such as a charger, power adapter, cable, Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, box or other peripherals, you must send those accessories with the device. Unless stated otherwise, accessories should be genuine Apple accessories and in working condition. If quoted accessories are missing, damaged, faulty, generic, counterfeit or non-genuine, we may revise the offer. We may also reject accessories that are unsafe, damaged, incompatible or unsuitable for resale.
Where a device, part or accessory has no resale value, is beyond economical repair, or is not suitable for refurbishment, we may recycle it responsibly unless you have asked for it to be returned and we have agreed to return it. We may remove, reuse, repair, refurbish, recycle or dispose of devices and components after a final offer has been accepted and ownership has transferred to us.
Ownership of your device transfers to us when we have inspected the device, you have accepted the final offer, and we have issued payment. Until ownership transfers, the device remains your property, subject to these Terms. Once ownership has transferred, the sale is final and you will not be able to request the device back.
We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Subject to that, we are not responsible for loss of data, loss of software, loss of profits, loss of business, loss of opportunity, indirect loss, consequential loss, or delays caused by couriers, banks, incorrect information provided by you, or events outside our reasonable control. Our total liability in connection with a device will not exceed the final accepted value of that device, unless the law requires otherwise.
We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We may use personal information to provide quotes, arrange shipping or collection, inspect devices, make payment, prevent fraud, comply with legal obligations, manage customer service and operate our business. Our website may use cookies and similar technologies in accordance with our Cookie Policy. You should read our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy before using the website or sending a device to us.
You must use our website lawfully and must not misuse it, interfere with it, attempt unauthorised access, introduce viruses or malicious code, scrape content without permission, or use the website in a way that could damage, disable or impair it. Website content, including text, branding, design, images and layout, belongs to us or our licensors and must not be copied, reproduced or used commercially without our permission. We may update, suspend, withdraw or change the website at any time.
If you have a question or complaint, please contact us by email at support@mac-recycle.com or by telephone on 01423 613383. Please include your name, quote reference, device details, contact information and a clear description of the issue. We will review complaints fairly and aim to respond within a reasonable time.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version that applies to your trade-in will usually be the version in force when you requested your quote, unless we have agreed different terms with you in writing or a change is required by law. The latest version of these Terms will be published on our website.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you may also have rights under the laws of the country or region where you live. Any dispute will be subject to the courts of England and Wales, except where consumer protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
These Terms are written in plain English, but they are a legal agreement. Please read them carefully. If anything is unclear, contact us before sending your device.
